I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was 28 years old. I'm 34 now and just learned how to swim. You're not alone.

12:45 pm - Meh
Had a meeting with dissertation supervisor, didn't go well.
Fed up with having to be responsible for everything, even though there's nothing anyone can do to help.
Tired, ugly, slow.
Not a good day.

It's Sunday and I am carefully watching the visitor count at the very bottom of this page. I am going to try to be your quarter billionth visitor!

It was 2:16 AM in NJ when I was on - and so were 614 others. It finally shook that feeling that was keeping me awake. The feeling of being alone.

I live in Tennessee, so I have taken countless childhood field trips to the falls. Now that I look back on it, a giant underground waterfall probably ISN'T the safest environment for children. :)

One of my fondest childhood memories was a trip to Chattanooga with my family when I was eight. I was so shy back then, but the friendly tour guides at Ruby Falls were so nice to me and seemed to enjoy talking to everyone that they inspired me to break out of my shell. When I got home from the trip I made my very first friends at school. Thanks for that.

My memories working at 31 Flavors involve dry ice bombs in the parking lot. But I really hope people mail more "secret acts of kindness" like yours.

Thank you for opening my mind to the fact that those people in my own life deserve thanks! I'll be making a few phone calls tonight.

06:04 pm - Thirst questions--NO SPOILERS PLEASE
I know a girl who's in a bit of a vampire craze because of Twilight. She also likes violent R-rated horror films like Saw. Thirst is playing in my area next month. Since I'm a fan of Park Chan-Wook (seen all his 2000s films) I figured I might ask her if she'd want to see it with me. I haven't asked her feelings on subtitles. Considering our mutual interests, do you think it'd make a good 'date' movie?
And (again NO SPOILERS please), in terms of content, how bad is it with gore and sex? Would you say moreso than Oldboy or less? She's not one to faint at the sight of gore (she saw George Romero's Land of the Dead, for example) but I don't think she'd like something on the level of Ichi the Killer.

I am looking for someone to help put together some flatpack furniture, in exchange for tea/pizza/beer etc. Please get in touch with me by phone if you can help.
Thank you

09:38 am - Sweet Valley Kids #7: Jessica's Big Mistake
Sweet Valley Kids #7: Jessica's Big Mistake
That's right, forget all of Jessica's other mistakes. Never mind all the dead boyfriends. Never mind framing her sister for vehicular manslaughter. Never mind the hideous feathered bangs. This is Jessica's seriously big mistake: cheating off her sister.
Then again, those bangs were pretty damn awful.
So, the cover shows Jessica stealing a crumpled paper out of the garbage, although that's not exactly how it happens in the book. Worse, though, is that Jessica is wearing Elizabeth's clothes and hairstyle! See, it says right here on page three that Liz is the one who wears blue because Jessica prefers pink. Plus, you just know that the barrette Jessica is wearing matches her outfit. You just know it.
( Actually, I just found this recap crumpled up in the trash and recopied it in my own handwriting. That's okay, right? )
